🌲✨ Ever wondered about the unique connection between space and Helen Keller's Birthplace? Meet the Moon Tree at Ivy Green! 🌑🌱 This loblolly pine was grown from a seed that traveled to the moon and back with Apollo 14 between January 31 and February 9, 1971. After germination by the U.S. Forest Service in Gulfport, Mississippi, the seedling was gifted to "The Clearing" at Ivy Green by the Alabama Forestry Commission and planted in October 1976. Visit us to see this extraordinary piece of lunar history rooted right here on Earth! 🚀🌍
The phones at Helen Keller's Birthplace-Ivy Green are currently down. However, they should be up and running soon. In the meantime, you can reach them on social media!
We totality recommend stopping by the visitor center when you’re out and about! 😎
